  1. DEA Prescription Drug Take Back Event

    The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs and over-the-counter medication while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications. To date, over 3.4 million pounds of unwanted/used/expired medication have been removed from circulation.The Drug Take-Back program is part of an initiative aimed to reduce the incidence of illegal prescription drug use among youth in Dallas County. A HPDPS officer will be on site during the take-back event.

    April 27, 2017, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Authors LIVE! is co-sponsored by The Friends of the Highland Park Library, Highland Park United Methodist Church and The Friends of the SMU Libraries.


    From David Grann, #1 New York Times best-selling author of The Lost City of Z, comes a true-life murder mystery about one of the most monstrous crimes in American history.


    In the 1920s, the richest people per capita in the world were members of the Osage Indian Nation in Oklahoma. Then, one by one, the Osage began to be killed off. Based on years of research and startling new evidence, Killers of the Flower Moon is a masterpiece of narrative nonfiction.


    Autographed books will be available for purchase before and after the program. The author will personalize his book after the program.


    The 7:00 p.m. Authors LIVE! programs are free and open to the public.

    The first course starts at 11:00 a.m. and will cover downloading digital materials such as eBooks, eAudio books, and eMagazines to iPads and tablets. The second course starts at 3:00 p.m. and will cover downloading digital materials to Kindle eReaders, such as the Kindle Paperwhite.


    Both courses should last approximately an hour. Advanced registration is required to attend. To register or learn more about the course, please contact the Highland Park Library at 214-559-9400 Tuesday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
