  2. Authors LIVE! Ron Chernow, author of Grant

October 25, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Authors LIVE! is co-sponsored by The Friends of the Highland Park Library, Highland Park United Methodist Church and The Friends of the SMU Libraries.

Pulitzer Prize winner Ron Chernow returns with a sweeping and dramatic portrait of one of our most compelling generals and presidents, Ulysses S. Grant.

Grant's life has typically been misunderstood. He is caricatured as an inept businessman or as the triumphant but brutal Union general of the Civil War. But these stereotypes don't come close to capturing him, as Chernow shows in his masterful biography, the first to provide a complete understanding of the general and president.

Autographed books will be available for purchase before and after the program.

The 7:00 p.m. Authors LIVE! programs are free and open to the public.

The 6:00 p.m. Author Reception including a signed copy of the author’s book is $30 and must be reserved at least 2 days in advance by contacting HPUMC at 214-523-2240 or online.
