    The Highland Park Harvey R. “Bum” Bright Library and University Park Public Library have partnered to bring renowned storyteller Bernadette Nason to the Park Cities for a special storytelling event. The event will take place on Monday, October 29, at 6:00 PM, at the University Park Public Library, 8383 Preston Center Plaza, Suite 200, University Park, TX 75225. Join multiple award-winning storyteller, actress, and author Bernadette Nason as she tells her "Stories for a Dark and Stormy Night", lighthearted suspense stories without the nightmares.   2. Authors LIVE! Hampton Sides author of On Desperate Ground: The Marines at The Reservoir, the Korean War's Greatest Battle

    October 29, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Authors LIVE! is co-sponsored by The Friends of the Highland Park Library, Highland Park United Methodist Church, and The Friends of the SMU Libraries.


    Hampton Sides, bestselling author of Ghost Soldiers and Blood and Thunder, new work, On Desperate Ground, renders a heart-pounding account from the Korean War.


    Drawing on meticulous research, Sides masterfully captures the courage, ingenuity, fortitude, and ferocity of the United States First Marine Division in one of the most harrowing battles in our country's military history, the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir.


    Autographed books will be available for purchase before and after the program. The author will personalize his book after the program.


    The 7:00 p.m. Authors LIVE! programs are free and open to the public. The 6:00 p.m. Author Reception including a signed copy of the author's book is $30 and must be reserved at least 2 days in advance by contacting HPUMC at 214-523-2240.
