From Wednesday, October 26 through Saturday, November 12 at 5:30 p.m., the Town of Highland Park will hold a food drive benefitting the South Dallas Community Food Center. People may donate canned and nonperishable food items as well as monetary donations by cash or check at the following places in the Highland Park Town Hall, which is located at 4700 Drexel Drive, 75205:

  • Customer Service window, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Highland Park Library, Tuesday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Lobby area of the Communication Center, seven days a week 24 hours a day (if donating between the hours of 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., please press the intercom button near the doors to speak with a Communications Specialist and gain entry to the lobby)

The South Dallas Community Food Center opened in 1999 to serve the South Dallas/Fair Park community. The center provides low-income families with nutritional food on a weekly basis by distributing groceries, hot meals, bus passes and gas cards. Each month, the center provides food to 9,000 or more families. For more information on the center, please visit here.

The food drive is the inaugural project of the HP Community Assisting Neighbors (CAN) committee, which is a Town of Highland Park employee initiative focused on community outreach and volunteerism with the goal of identifying and organizing ways for Town of Highland Park employees to positively affect the lives and wellbeing of citizens in North Texas. For more information on HP CAN please contact Kelle Hall, Communications Manager for Highland Park Department of Public Safety, at 214-521-4161.
