Municipal Court
The Municipal Court exists to administer fair and impartial justice while adhering to statutory requirements and providing exceptional customer service for all Class "C" Misdemeanors that occur within the Town limits. Duties include efficient and effective delivery regarding traffic, criminal, Town ordinance and other miscellaneous violations of Code offenses with the Town's jurisdiction.
If you were issued a citation, you have 20 days from the date of the citation was issued to enter a plea, pay your fine and costs, or set a court date. Please allow at least 24 hours for your citation to be filed with the court before information can be given. The Court office is located on the second floor.
Please note that the Court window will remain in operation Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For all questions or concerns, please contact the Court office at 214-559-9303.
Online: Those electing to make payment online without contesting the citation may use the online payment website.
Fill out and sign the plea form and send it to municipalcourt@hpdps.org.
Court Sessions
Court is held Tuesdays from 1:15 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Please note: Court office does not answer the phone on Tuesday afternoon during Court sessions.
Notice - Weapons Prohibited
Pursuant to Texas Penal Code 46.03, any weapon is prohibited from the Municipal Court. Other than law enforcement personnel, at no time may an individually legally carry a weapon into court.
Secondly, the second floor of Highland Park Town Hall is subject to open meetings requirements, Chapter 551, Government Code. Therefore, weapons are prohibited from the second floor of Town Hall.
Restrictions for Purses, Handbags, Briefcases and Backpacks
Purses, handbags, briefcases and backpacks not permitted in the courtroom. An exception will be made for medically necessary articles, but the items are subject to inspection by court security personnel.
Payments
The court accepts payment in person via cash, check, credit/debit card, or money order. You may also pay online using a credit/debit card with the exception of citations on which an arrest warrant has been issued.
Payment Plans
A payment plan may be requested in person at the Municipal Court office on the day prior to your court date, or from the Judge on the date of your court appearance. If an arrest warrant has already been issued, then only the Judge may grant a payment plan.
