Governor Abbott Announces Temporary Pause Of Additional Reopening Phases

September 17, 2020: Governor Greg Abbott allows many businesses to operate at 75% capacity. 

June 26, 2020: Governor Greg Abbott today issued an executive order limiting certain businesses and services as part of the state’s efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19. This decision comes as the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 and the number of hospitalizations have increased and the positivity rate in Texas increased above 10%, which the Governor previously stated would lead to further preventative action. The targeted, measured directives in the executive order are based on links between certain types of businesses and services and the recent rise in positive cases throughout the state. 

• All bars and similar establishments that receive more than 51% of their gross receipts from the sale of alcoholic beverages are required to close at 12:00 PM today. These businesses may remain open for delivery and take-out, including for alcoholic beverages, as authorized by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. 
• Restaurants may remain open for dine-in service, but at a capacity not to exceed 50% of total listed indoor occupancy, beginning Monday, June 29, 2020.
• Outdoor gatherings of 100 or more people must be approved by local governments, with certain exceptions.

The COVID-19 pandemic is a difficult time for everyone, including the Town’s business community. Below is a list of Highland Park restaurants and businesses, offering special hours, take-out, delivery, dine-in, and/or curbside service.

We encourage you to support our local businesses and restaurants during these challenging times. Ordering food for delivery, dine-in, or to-go, and taking advantage of curbside pick-up can help our community business partners remain open.

The Town is working with restaurants and businesses to ensure operation under Open Texas. We also encourage you to be proactive with personal safe practices to protect yourself and others (e.g., hand washing, wearing cloth face coverings over mouth and nose while in public, social distancing guidelines).  

This is a rapidly changing situation as establishments begin to reopen. Please call and check in with the restaurant or business to make sure they are open before heading out.

Patrons may once again enjoy a meal inside a beloved restaurant or shop at a local market.

Under new Texas Department of State Health Services guidelines, select restaurants are now choosing to serve customers their favorite meals through dine-in service at 50% occupancy rate. These guidelines have been put into place to ensure the safety of both restaurant teams and customers.
