About the Board of Adjustment

The Town’s Zoning Ordinance provides for the creation of a Board of Adjustment (Board) consisting of five members and two alternate members, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Town Council, for two-year terms. The purpose of the Board is to consider requests for variances from regulations of the Zoning Ordinance.

Public Hearings

In considering a request for a variance (PDF), the Board is required by state statute to conduct a public hearing. The public hearing process involves notifying adjacent property owners and publishing a copy of the notice in the Daily Commercial Record.
