About the Zoning Commission

The Town’s Charter sets forth requirements for the creation of a Zoning Commission appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Town Council. The Zoning Commission consists of five members, who are residents of the Town, and the Town administrator and the Town attorney, who act as ex-officio members. The Commission serves as an advisory board to the Town Council on matters related to zoning, planning, or subdividing land within the corporate limits of the Town.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Zoning Commission considers changes in zoning regulations and makes a recommendation to the Town Council. The Town Council takes final action on all zoning changes. In considering a zoning change, the commission conducts a public hearing to receive input from interested residents. Any property owner can request a change in zoning.
