Hazard Mitigation

Dallas County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management

Dallas County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) is facilitating and coordinating an update to the Dallas County Hazard Mitigation Action Plan. The purpose of this plan update is to meet the FEMA requirements to provide updated hazard mitigation plans every five years, in order to maintain eligibility for certain types of federal hazard mitigation assistance grants.

Hazard Mitigation Planning Team

A Hazard Mitigation Planning Team, comprised of representatives from Dallas County and jurisdictions within Dallas County cities, is currently developing an update to the comprehensive Dallas County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Action Plan with a strategy to reduce the vulnerability of people and property in the planning area to the impacts of hazards and to become eligible for mitigation funding programs from FEMA.

Public Input

One of the key components of a hazard mitigation action plan is public input during the planning process. The Hazard Mitigation Planning Team will be evaluating information on the hazards that impact each participating jurisdiction within Dallas County. They are seeking your input and comments on the hazards that will be evaluated as well as your opinions on the types of activities that should be considered to reduce future impacts.

Your comments will be considered by your jurisdictions Hazard Mitigation Planning Team as the plan is developed. Please take a few moments to answer the following questions in the public survey. Thank you for your time and participation!
